sustainable.co.za - a green initiative
Posted by Louis Venter on 07 Jul 2009 | Tagged as: UncategorizedThose that know me will realise that recently I have been a bit more grumpy than usual. The main reason is that I have been working feverishly on a new project with my very first business partner Zeke Murphy. Spare time has become more rare as a result :).
While I moved to London to further my IT business aspirations and eventually founded MediaVision, Zeke branched out became a hippie and started saving the planet. Well actually he was allways a hippie but IT really didnt allow him to do a hell of a lot of bunny hugging.
We have finally got back together on a project we chatted about in December on a visit to Cape Tpwn. Zeke already has a very successfull sustainable consultancy and installation business with a shop that was (barely) online. The online shop is now really where it should be, South Africa’s leading eco shop.
Sustainable.co.za sells all eco-related products in South Africa and the rest of Africa too. From solar garden lights to full solar water systems the choice is pretty much endless and with over 600 products online its proably the largest too.
The reason i am so excited by the project is that solar energy is very viable in South Africa and with South Africa’s power infrastructure under severe pressure with a 35% increase in energy costs now is the perfect time to assess a more sustainable power source.
If you know anyone in South Africa that is perhaps grumbling about energy costs drop the site to them, it could save them thousands of Rand a year.
